Beat Buzz: Blakkat Mixes For Every Moment Of Triumph Vol. 4

1374160_10152536346072366_1086781697_nA delightfully trippy mix is on its way to eardrums across the world. Blakkat (AKA Mark Bell) has mixed the fourth edition of ‘For Every Moment of Triumph,’ the compilation series which calls [a]pendics.shuffle‘s label Adjunct home. Blakkat has an impressive background in electronic music, with collabs with everyone from Felix da Housecat to A Tribe Called Quest to DJ Sneak and most recently Yousef under his belt. Its no wonder he’s the first besides [a]pendics himself to mix an edition. Blakkat’s flow is liquid perfection, and each and every individual track is something special.

Label mainstays such as Sebastian Bouchet and Thomas Ellis as well as underground legends like Noah Pred lend exclusive tracks to this compilation. The 14 tracks range from smooth and sexy electronic jams to dead-set Detroit-influenced grooves to left-field house experiments which add up to make a wild ride of a listening experience. Signal Deluxe’s “White Eagle Rider” sets the funky, moody tone. Deeper in, tracks like Fase & Dilo’s “Don’t Tell Me” captivate with their unique instrumentation and well-timed vocal samples. Towards the end, a few screws come loose, but the beat remains consistent. This mix is a welcome departure from canned house music – one that is sure to beg for a re-listen and stick in your brain for months to come.

Preview the compilation below, but trust us when we say you won’t fully be able to comprehend it until you listen to the mixed version. Let Blakkat take your feet and mind right on down the rabbit hole. For Every Moment of Triumph: Volume 4 is out on August 4th.
