Party Buzz: Mark Farina Plays Friday Grand Opening of The Annex Detroit
This Friday, January 8th, The Annex Detroit celebrates it’s much-anticipated Grand Opening. And they are starting things off on the right foot with Mark Farina, making a pit stop in Detroit on his world tour celebrating the 25 year anniversary of Mushroom Jazz. Detroit’s beloved deep house duo, Golf Clap will be opening for the Mushroom Jazz maestro and Ben Scott will be kicking off the night.
Co-owner of The Annex and owner of The Grasshopper Underground, Troy Ramroop, is preparing for another couple of nights of parties during the week. Saturday nights have been running there for a couple of months, already, but we are looking forward to Friday evenings kicking into gear. All future Friday’s will be filled with nothing short of great dance music at The Annex. We are not the only ones excited about the Friday premiere. Here’s what Ramroop had to say:
“The Grasshopper will always be my baby. It continues to evolve and grow daily. The Annex gives me an opportunity to showcase acts that can not be housed at The Grasshopper because of capacity restraints. My partners, Andrus McDonald and Brian Jeffries (aka DJ Godfather), share in my vision—the overall growth of this genre of music we all love. Fridays at the Annex will be dedicated to dance muisc. Meanwhile, at The Grasshopper will be focusing on showcasing local talent, also within this genre. We encourage you to stop by, have a drink and dance your worries away!”
So, that is what we will be doing! Dancing, drink in hand, and enjoying the fantastic tunes in this new venue.
See you Friday!
