Midnight Snack #30: Dysphoria EP by Redundant
For Berlin’s Ampispazi Recordings, developing young new talent has always been at the forefront of their label philosophy. The imprint, brainchild of DJ and producer Mik Santoro, is now presenting their 53rd release—Redundant’s latest single, “Dysphoria.” At 23-years-old, Giuseppe Giulio Caponetto is making the kind of mature techno music that many producers strive to achieve their entire lives. His early exposure to DJing from his father got him interested in music, but it was his imagination and interest in computers that took him to the next level. With steadfast dedication to his craft, Redundant is turning heads with his dark and dynamic brand of techno.
Receiving love from big DJs such as Monika Kruse and Stacey Pullen, the Dysphoria EP is a two-track offering of industrial minimal techno. Club-driven track “Leslie Monotone” opens the EP with warm metallic synths and robust sub-bass that could shake any room. Another dancefloor diamond, “Alida,” immediately injects energy into any set with its Berlin-inspired industrial soundscapes, crunchy claps and cavernous drum kicks that live deep within the bass abyss. From all-night warehouse parties to daytime events, the Dysphoria EP will be a secret weapon in any DJ’s collection. The release will be out on May 8 via digital formats.
