Know Your Label: Mindshake
Another label we have a lot of respect for is renowned Spanish dance floor destroyer Paco Osuna’s own Midshake Records. Since 2005, the label has been releasing some serious techno from newcomers and established producers alike. July was a special month for them, marking the release of their first full-legth album in the form of Alexis Cabrera’s Ocean Between.
One of the most defining characteristics of Mindshake is the fact that it’s become known as Paco Osuna’s second family by artists and fans alike. “I think Mindshake is a great label, but more importantly it’s become a family,” said Carlo Lio in an interview last December. “Paco and I have become very close over the years and he is someone that I will want to work with forever.” With releases from Lio, Osuna, Dustin Zahn, Skoozbot, Alex Under, and many more in their roster, this family tree is one with some serious roots.
Charting with DJs like Umek, Pan-Pot, and Technasia, the family has clearly been welcomed by the techno community at large. Mindshake also has a growing list of residencies all over the world, a bangin’ podcast series (listen below), and a 65-video strong YouTube channel to their name. What’s next? “The idea is to develop the label as much as possible, with parties, new artist, etc…” noted Osuna in a chat with Kana. “Mindshake is like my little son and as I say before it has to grow up.”
