Party Buzz: Charivari Detroit 2016
From August 5-7, thousands of dance music devotees will flood downtown Detroit for the third annual Charivari Detroit Music Festival . Taking place at Belle Isle, Charivari is an all-ages event celebrating electronic music and Detroit’s vital role in its development. This historic event bridges the gap between generations of local dance music lovers. From the early scenesters with their families in tow to the new wave of twenty-somethings who are keeping the local music landscape fresh, there is something for everyone. This labor of love is even bigger and better this year, expanding to a third night and including more activities for everyone.
From old-school legends to stars on the rise, the lineup demonstrates the diverse landscape of Detroit’s dance music scene. Since its inception three years ago, the event has expanded tremendously. Because of this, there is a cost ($30 for 1 day pass, $55 for weekend pass, Friday night is FREE) to attend this year to help pay for artist fees, production equipment, security and more.
Highlights include legendary Detroit DJs like Juan Atkins, Delano Smith, Terrence Parker, and Eddie Fowlkes, and a new wave of local talent like the Ghita Sisters, Twin Cousin, Soul Goodman, Asher Perkins. Wear your dancing shoes because the music will be top-notch!
